Amzi! Adds Object-Oriented
Programming with Logic

November 10, 1997 - Lebanon, OH--Amzi! announces the addition of OPL™ (Object-oriented Programming with Logic) to their product line. OPL is a third-party, add-on library written by Erik Borgers for Amzi! Prolog + Logic Server.

OPL combines Prolog with object-oriented techniques to provide a powerful programming environment.. It is a true Object-Oriented Prolog--Prolog and object-orientation without compromises. OPL supports the following paradigms:

In addition, Prolog's pattern-matching and backtracking mechanisms can be used in combination with these paradigms for matching attributes, backtracking services etc. And OPL can be readily used in embedded Prolog modules (in Java, C/C++, Visual Basic, Delphi, Web Servers, etc).

OPL includes the embeddable Prolog library (PLM file) that implements the OO paradigms, full documentation and a variety of samples.

A demonstration version can be downloaded at no charge from Amzi!’s web site, http://www.amzi.com. This version is limited to 10 objects, but is otherwise fully functional. OPL licenses can be purchased for US$149. Education and quantity discounts are available.
