24-January-2001 -- Lebanon, Ohio, USA - Amzi! announces the KnowledgeWright family of products, designed to make it easier to build, maintain and deploy a wide variety of knowledge-based applications, either on the Web or as an integrated component of a larger application, under Windows or Unix operating systems.
KnowledgeWright addresses the major difficulty with deploying knowledge, which is that the way knowledge is represented and reasoned over varies greatly from one application domain to another.
KnowledgeWright overcomes this difficulty with an application development framework for knowledge-based applications that can be easily customized for any particular application domain.
These customizations are called KnowledgeWright Jigs, which, like manufacturing jigs, make it easy to build knowledge bases by guiding the tools for crafting and using knowledge in a given domain.
Jigs are made possible by a schema-driven development and test environment and the KnowledgeWright interface (KWI) for maintaining a dialog between a host runtime environment and a KnowledgeWright reasoning engine and knowledgebase.
A Jig, therefore, is composed of a schema describing types of knowledge and a reasoning engine that uses that knowledge and communicates with both the development environment and runtime environment using the KWI.
KnowledgeWright includes a large library of common types and uses of knowledge, such as questions for users, database queries, rules and tables, and HTML formatting, which make building new Jigs a relatively simple task.
KnowledgeWright Basic is, as the name implies, a basic Jig that supports advice-giving knowledgebase development and deployment.
KnowledgeWright Support is a Jig designed for representing, maintaining and deploying technical support knowledge. It's main unit of knowledge is a 'solution' that encapsulates in a single easily editable object: a description of a problem, the environment it occurs in, the conditions that indicate its the correct solution, workarounds and fixes.
KnowledgeWright Sales is a Jig designed to represent and deploy the needs-benefit-feature analysis and reasoning used by top sales professionals in making product and service recommendations for prospects.
Amzi! provides custom KnowledgeWright Jigs for customers with specific application needs. These Jigs can optionally be private labeled and integrated as part of the customer's own application suite.
