April 2, 1997 - Stow MA-Amzi! inc. announces the 4.0 release of Amzi! Prolog + Logic Server. The major objectives of this release are to:
In support of these objectives, the Amzi! Logic Server (Prolog engine) has been redesigned as a native C++ application. This allows applications to create multiple instances of the Logic Server running in the same or separate threads. It also provides for seamless integration of Prolog's catch/throw mechanism to the catch/throw mechanisms in C++, Java and Delphi.
The Amzi! Prolog engine is now a native Unicode application like Java and NT 4.0. Prolog source code can be written in Unicode or ASCII, allowing predicates and variables as well as strings to be represented in the 16-bit Unicode character set.
Support for Internet and Web-based applications has been greatly expanded in 4.0 with the addition of these new components:
To speed development, numerous enhancements have been made in the Interactive Developer's Environment (IDE), including comprehensive project support. Console versions of the command-line tools make it easy to build Amzi! Prolog components while compiling and linking the main application. And, the latest development environments from Borland (including their new C++ Builder) and Microsoft are also supported.
Current Amzi! subscribers (and new customers) can download the 4.0 release
