Prolog + Logic Server 6.1.30 Beta Test Release -------------------------------------------------------- A new 6.1 release is now available, a6-1-68 from http://www.amzi.com/download. A variety of number options are now available. The Prolog flags 'decimals' and 'floats' are used to determine a default number scheme. 'decimals' can be either 'real', using the new Amzi! real/infinite precision numbers, or 'float' indicating conventional/standard floating point numbers are used for decimals. The 'floats' flag indicates how floating point numbers are stored internally, either 'double' or 'single' precision. There were problems in the evaluation of real (infinite precision) arithmetic in the previous release. These are mostly fixed, but it is still not perfect. So the default for the system is now decimals = float, and floats = single. These can be changed in program code, using set_prolog_flag/2, or in the amzi.cfg file. The :-include(FILE) directive is now supported. It is an excellent way to include a file of operator definitions in multiple files that use them. Note that FILE must include the extension, if any, of the file name. Other changes are: - compare/3 is put back in the system. See the documentation for details. - The standard sort order now sorts variables by the arbitrary internal memory location. - copy_term/2 has been added as a built-in predicate. It creates a copy of a term with a new set of variables, so unification on the copy doesn't affect the variables on the original. - A new library of date and time arithmetic predicates has been added. See the documentation for details. - A new library for XML translation to and from Prolog terms has been added, see the documentation. - A new library for performance probes of Prolog programs has been added, see the documentation. - The cross reference utility, axrf.pro, has been included as a library. Commercial licenses for Amzi! Prolog + Logic Server are $2,500 and include all updates and priority technical support for a year. Contact us on www.amzi.com to place an order. [2] KnowledgeWright 4.1.24 Beta Test Release -------------------------------------------- This release of KnowledgeWright includes both the Basic and Support Jigs in a single package. Full documentation and a tutorial for the Support Jig has been added. The Basic Jig provides a general purpose system for creating knowledgebases that diagnose problems and give advice. The Support Jig is an extension of Basic and searches a knowledgebase of solutions to find one matching the user's problem. It is ideal for web-based technical support applications. This release also fully supports international characters and now uses Unicode (wide character) format files for knowledgebases. Please back up all your knowledgebases before converting to this release. Also, a variety of date input formats is available. The CGI web interface can now back up to any prior question page and restart reasoning from that point. And, session files are now properly cleaned up. There is a new object, data_table, which allows you to extract values for use in reasoning with a query function. On a related point, tables have been renamed to rules_tables. There have also been a number of bug fixes (many thanks to all who reported them) and enhancements to the documentation. You can download KnowledgeWright from http://www.amzi.com/download. Commercial licenses for KnowledgeWright are $2,500 and include all updates and priority technical support for a year. Also, we are available to build a custom jig to match your knowledge structures and reasoning processes. Contact us on www.amzi.com to place an order or discuss a custom jig. [3] CCH-LIS Uses Amzi! and SQL to Automate Insurance Filings ------------------------------------------------------------ CCH-LIS has built an intelligent filing manager for high-volume forms publishing applications that need to fill-in multiple forms simultaneously. They have designed their system for large insurers who need to fill in approximately 700 different forms from the 50 states. The intelligent filing manager system combines the Amzi! Logic Server for artificial intelligence with a SQL database, Excel user interface and portable document format technology.
